Negotiating with Clients
Freelance
employers are of all kinds and types and have all sorts of work ethic
requirements. However, while negotiating rates with the client there are some
tricks that proved to be useful. First and foremost is doing research. Do a research
on what rates other are quoting for the same kind of job. Perceived value lets
you negotiate with confidence. Second, never use written communication only but
feel free to talk to the client using voice or video call. Third, ask exactly
what the job entails. Without a proper understanding of the job, you may agree
to a rate lower for the amount of work involved. Fourth, quote the price first.
Last, don’t be afraid to turn down a job. An employer also has pressure to find
a good freelancer. If you don’t find a good job, don’t be afraid to turn it
down, and it might result in better rates.
